What registration do I need?

For Residents of Puerto Rico

1. You don’t have to coordinate an appointment you just have to register. Complete the form and a certified doctor will contact you for your evaluation.

2. Get your certification instantly. If you are approved, you will receive your recommendation with an application form.

3. Dr. MCOW will process your application with the Department of Health of Puerto Rico. When processed, you will receive a notification and an appointment to pick up your MC card at the designated location of your choice.

4. Visit the dispensary of your choice. The certificate is valid in all dispensaries of Puerto Rico. Do not forget to carry a valid identification with you and your patient card in order to start your MC treatment!

For Medical Tourism with Reciprocity

1. You don’t have to coordinate an appointment you just have to register. You complete the form and a certified doctor will contact you by telephone for your evaluation.

2. Obtain your certification immediately. If you are approved, you will receive your recommendation to download it online and print.

3. Visit the dispensary of your choice. The certificate is valid for one month and only in all dispensaries of Puerto Rico. Do not forget to carry a valid identification with you and your patient card in order to continue with your MC treatment!

Is the online service for MC evaluation legal?

The service is legal as per it abides with Telehealth and MC laws & regulations.

Is patient’s information protected?

Your information is confidential and will never appear on any public database. Henceforward, is protected under the federal law through the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

How does the process of MC evaluation work?

In order to obtain a MC card requires for you to register online providing some basic personal information, valid medical evidence, and respond to a medical form. Then a licensed medical specialist will determine if your application qualifies for approval.

What should a patient provide to obtain a MC evaluation?

Patient must provide medical evidence such as a medical letter from their primary doctor or specialist. Also, diagnosis from MRI, CT-Scan or X-ray. Lastly, prescribed medications that can ascertain correlation with the approved conditions by the Department of Health. All evidence should be recent.

What is the company’s refund policy?

Dr. MCOW is not responsible if a doctor disapproves your application. However, in the event an application is denied for not meeting the requirements according to MC laws the application fee will be reimbursed in 30 days.

What conditions are approved by the Department of Health to be treated by MC?

The following conditions in Puerto Rico are eligible for a MC recommendation:

Cancer, HIV, multiple and lateral Sclerosis, Chron’s disease, fibromyalgia, Alzheimer, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, anxiety disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson, anorexia, migraine, Hepatitis C, cachexia, spinal cord injuries, chronic pain, persistent muscular spasms and severe nausea.

How long is a MC recommendation valid?

Certificates are valid only for thirty (30) days and an issued MC card is valid for one (1) year.

After One (1) year what happens to my MC ID?

According to the MC laws and regulations in Puerto Rico once card is close to the expiration date if the patient desires to continue medical treatment must renovate their license.

Can I get my ID with an out of state license or Passport?

Only MC recommendation certificates are issued for those patients who are card holders of out of state MC card and possess an identification from USA. In Terms of obtaining in Puerto Rico a MC ID to be expedite once approved you are required to have a valid identification such as a driver’s license, DTOP ID or Real ID.
